2018 Executive Board
Are you interested in running for the PNW SOPHE Executive Board?
PNW SOPHE is a dynamic group of professionals and students dedicated to the promotion of health education in the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and the Province of British Columbia. The PNW SOPHE Executive Board is comprised of chapter officers who promote, encourage, and contribute to the health of all people in our geographical area through networking, professional exchange, continuing education and support of our members. PNW SOPHE is currently accepting applications for interested chapter members to join the Executive Board.
Open chapter positions include:
Vice President – The Vice President is elected for a one (1) year term and is responsible for all aspects of the Board member election. The Vice President will assist and support the president and substitute for him/her when and if needed. Co-chair eligible.
Treasurer – The Treasurer is elected for a one (1) year term, and is responsible to the Executive Board for the fiscal health of the Chapter including deposit, reimbursement and tracking monthly bank statements. Co-chair eligible.
Membership Chair – The Membership Chair is elected for a one (1) year term and his/her main responsibility is to accurately maintain the Chapter’s membership database. S/he also promotes recruitment and retention of members to the Chapter. Co-chair eligible.
Programs Chair – The Programs Chair is elected for a one (1) year term. S/he is responsible for guiding and/or supporting all social and educational programs that PNW SOPHE provides to the Chapter’s membership. Co-chair eligible.
Advocacy Chair – The Advocacy Chair is elected to a one (1) year term and is responsible to the Executive Board for the ongoing information on legislative issues that may affect the Chapter membership. S/he mobilizes Chapter members when Chapter input would be helpful or necessary. Co-chair eligible.
Communications Chair – The Communications Chair is responsible to the Executive Board for the production and maintenance of all of the Chapter’s communication tools (such as the Chapter’s website, blog, social media, or publications) and for producing the Chapter’s quarterly newsletter. The Communications Chair is elected for a one (1) year term. Co-chair eligible.
Continuing Education Chair – The Continuing Education Accreditation Coordinator is elected for a two (2) year term. S/he is responsible for maintaining PNW SOPHE’s duties as a Provider of continuing education credits, in accordance with the policies of National SOPHE and the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. for as long as PNW SOPHE chooses to be a CHES Credit Provider. The Coordinator must be a Member in Good Standing, possess the CHES credential, and a member of National SOPHE. The Coordinator shall represent the local Chapter at meetings of the National Society’s Continuing Education Committee. The Chair also serves as the Chairperson of the Continuing Education Committee. National Delegate – The National Delegate is elected for a two (2) year term, represents the local Chapter at all meetings of National SOPHE, and facilitates interaction between the local Chapter and the National Society. The National Delegate must be a current member of National SOPHE.
Student Engagement Officer – The Student Engagement Officer is responsible for coordinating outreach efforts to regional undergraduate and graduate health education programs with the purpose of serving as a liaison between the Executive Board and the students. The Student Engagement Officer is a current student or recent graduate and is elected to a two (2) year term with one (1) year serving as student liaison and one (1) year serving as mentor for new officers. Co-chair eligible.
Regional Delegates – Members representing Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and the Province of British Columbia serve as liaisons between the Executive Board and their state/province. The Regional Delegates are appointed for one (1) year terms. Co-chair eligible.
Interested candidates should email their platform statements and position they are interested in to PNW SOPHE Treasurer, Maryam Jafari (firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 15, 2018. Platform statements should provide limited detail to your experience in the field of health education and any experience related to the responsibilities of the position you are interested in. All candidates will be up for appointment, as decided by the PNW SOPHE chapter. Elections will be held from through the end of January.
