Presented by: Taryn Oestreich, MPH, MCHES

Taryn Oestreich, MPH, MCHES is in the trenches working several positions concurrently – for the Veterans Health Administration (VA) – Health Sciences Research and Development division, Seattle Children’s Hospital, the University of Washington and Western Washington University. At the VA she trains staff for the national Shared Decision Making for Aging Veterans project and serves on the Veterans Health Education and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (yes, they call it hippy dippy) Committees. For Children’s she recruits and trains instructors for community education classes and helps staff safety education events. Taryn also teaches college courses at the University of Washington. She delivers the Enhancing Connections education intervention to parents with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis who have children ages 5 to 17. And, she has been teaching college courses to “mature students” – that’s college speak for students over 23 – for over 30 years.
